Business proposal
A business proposal is a formal attempts to convince someone to approve, sponsor agree to or a project or an idea. For example when we an idea to run a project, we need investor to give fund to our company. So we need to prepare a quality business proposal to convince the investor.  There are two types of business proposal which are solicited and unsolicited. Solicited proposals must have request for proposal (FRP).  We also learned about the component of proposal which contains:
1.       Copy of RPF
2.       Letter of transmittal
3.       Executive summary
4.       Title page
5.       Table of contents
6.       List of figures
Furthermore, we need to prepare text of the proposal which contained:
1.       Introduction
2.       Background, problem, purpose
3.       Schedule
4.       Staffing
5.       Budget
6.       Appendix
All this kind of contents had been explained by the trainer during the class. This session gives me more knowledge about this topic. Before this, I just did business proposal without using the right format.  I hope after this I can do my own business proposal very effectively.
14 and 15 December 2010
Powerful presentation skill
An effective communication skill must have strategy consist of:
1.       The event
2.       The site
3.       The speech
4.       The audience
Our presentation must satisfy our criteria:
1.       Get attention from the audience
2.       Meaningful to them
3.       Memorable
4.       Activating
During the class we were giving the opportunity to practice the right way to present or communicate. For the first time we have to talk with passive thing about our family, I chose my note to speak. I feel like a crazy woman when speak like that. Then, we have to speak between two friend and lastly to all group members. It is quite difficult to talk what we were not prepared.  We also realized that we need to improve ourselves on intellectual thinking, about world history and also current issue.
During presentation the important thing is the presenter followed by the appearance and the content.  Body language as well as appearance speaks much lauder than words. This session is very interesting for me because it was not boring and we do practice rather than learning theory.

Communication for leader
GREAT COMMUNICATORS ARE NOT BORN, THEY ARE MADE.
Anyone can be a leader but not everyone can be a good leader. Leadership means controlled people, purposeful transfer of meaning by which leader influence people.  Someone that can influence people have the characteristics of a leader.  Influencing people not just by our talk or speech only but how we talk and what is the content. There are also person that not talk much but many people can follow him.
Trainer used the example from world leaders to describe how characteristics as a leader for example George Bush, Obama and J.F Kennedy. At Malaysia we also have good speaker like Dr. Mahathir and Anwar Ibrahim.  Task given to us is to identify one leader that we are inspired who used effective communication skills to inspire people or subordinates. We had chose Ahmad Deedat as the effective leader. He was a muslim writer and public speaker Indian South African.  He was a debater in inter-religous public debate with evangelical Christian. The approach that he used is focus by providing muslims with theological tools for defending. He also used English to get his message.  As a muslim, I’m very impressed with him on how he delivered Islam to people.

                Grooming
‘Put your time, effort and money into training, grooming and encouraging your greatest asset’      by Tom Hopkins
Grooming is how we set up our image. A person must groom himself neat and tidy. When we have an interview we need to groom ourselves. The interviewer can know our character by looking on our appearance. During this class session, we learned how to groom ourselves by clothing and make up our face. Everyone looks different people with different perception. But grooming is needed as long as it is not too much and exceeds the law of Islam for the muslim.
Lastly we also learned about table etiquette and how to be manners during attend a function. This practice session enriched us the knowledge of etiquette and I hope I can practise it when it is needed.
That’s all for this week.. Thank you=)
